‘WHAT’ we do in Scouting
In Scouting, young people learn by doing, we use practical hands on learning when we do an activity in scouts. To assist us in our learning we use the Scout Method, this helps our adults and youth members on their personal scouting journey.
Scouting involves a variety of activities and events, such as weekly meetings, hikes, training, overnights, longer overnights (weekends), and ceremonies to mark specific events such as Investitures, Awards Nights. We also take part in community events such as the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Derby Festival and volunteer to assist Tidy Towns during Spring Clean.
Scouting involves challenges such as Badge work, Adventure Skills, Special Interest Badges and the Chief Scout Award/An Gaisce – The President’s Award.
